Both cameras share these features: the point-and-shoot simplicity, a standard lens (0.6m-infinity), self-timer, a flash you can turn on and off, along with a rechargeable battery. They also take i-Type film, which is a new instant film that’s battery free, so it’s a little friendlier on the wallet. Both cameras have that retro look from the ‘70s and make it simple to take great Polaroid photos. Deciding between both cameras comes down to the sort of photographs you enjoy taking.
There are two key differences between the OneStep 2 and the OneStep+: lenses and phone connectivity. The Polaroid OneStep+ has all the features of the OneStep 2, but comes with an extra portrait lens and greater creative control using the Polaroid mobile app. The portrait lens allows you to get closer to your subject for macro photography, with a minimum distance of just 30cm (11.81 inches). It also connects to the Polaroid app via Bluetooth to unlock creative tools including manual control, double exposure, light painting, remote trigger, noise trigger, portrait mode, and self-timer.
Both cameras are a beautiful way to delve into analog instant photography. If you’re an absolute beginner the Polaroid OneStep 2 is a simple first step. If you want to experiment a bit more, we recommend the Polaroid OneStep+ to dive into creative exploration.
