Capturing real life on the Go with Marie Renaud and Maria Louceiro

Two very talented photographers who create two very different worlds. Marie Renaud, captures off the cuff moments whilst Marie Louceiro uses color to create her dreamlike worlds; making them an interesting and im(perfect) pair for capturing the beautifully imperfect on the go. We equipped them with the latest Polaroid Go instant camera to interpret the lines “Real Life is sometimes unintentionally beautiful” and “Real Life is color you can’t control”. Read on to see how they captured real life on the Go…

Life, to Marie Renaud, is a story waiting to be told. Consider her a real moment-catching extraordinaire and she’ll always find life’s unexpected charms. All she has to do is be present.

“Real Life is sometimes unintentionally beautiful” was a life/Polaroid truth that seemed made for Marie. She seizes every unanticipated opportunity and for her, these random bursts of beauty and wonder make life vibrant and worth savoring. It's the little things that truly count and keep her energized.

She explains that her favorite photos are the ones she captures on a whim - sometimes accidentally. A friend holding a chicken, two friends hugging, or simply being out in nature. She highlights that there’s a softness to spontaneous shots that cannot be recreated. No frills or tricks, just genuine, unfiltered moments frozen in time.

At times, her Polaroid shots turned out different from what she expected. But that’s all part of it and that’s what makes it exciting. The sunsets she captured were bright and richly saturated. Also a reminder of how nature, right in front of us, creates its own art.

Maria Louceiro is a photographer who understands how expressive light and color can be when it comes to creating moods. To interpret the line: “Real Life is color you can’t control” she headed out to capture nature in all its chromatic glory.

Maria found herself at the peak of nature, at the bottom of it, and ultimately always surrounded by it. She stepped out with intentions and headed across mountain tops and sea views, exploring each location and finding hidden gems along the way. She’d wake up before sunrise to hike up mountains, noticing the subtleties of the changing day and light.

She explains her process with light. She went out on quiet, peaceful days to capture beautiful, diffused light and lovely shadows. A type of light that emphasizes the peaceful ambiance and adds warmer tones to her Polaroid images, such as yellow and reddish landscapes. Other times, she'd experiment with more direct, contrasting light to lend intensity to the photographs.

For Maria, hiking is all about the joys and difficulties of going up and down narrow stairs and exploring new places with blooming nature. In the same way that the mountains have real highs and lows, the world around us has many different colors that show how beautiful life can be even when it's not what you expect.

Marie's knack to seizing life's unexpected charms captured truer, genuine emotions, while her mastery of light and color led to captivating images that beautifully captured nature's ever-changing canvas. There's one thing they both have in common – they reminded us that real life happens when we embrace the unknown and don't have all the answers. It's the beauty of uncertainty that can lead to surprising results—results that are often better than what we initially hoped for.
