Polaroid Fotobar Celebrates Grand Opening of Las Vegas Flagship, Museum
The special day was capped off with an evening reception that featured many special guests, including Penn & Teller.
LAS VEGAS (April 25, 2014) – Friends,
family, journalists, executives, politicians, artists and more than 200
other special guests gathered last night to commemorate the grand
opening of Polaroid Fotobar’s newest flagship location and The Polaroid Museum
at The LINQ in Las Vegas. The extraordinary evening was made all the
more memorable by the appearance of Penn & Teller, who performed
their much-loved levitation trick, capturing it all on their Polaroid camera to the delight and awe of fellow Polaroid aficionados.
Following
a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Warren Struhl, Fotobar’s founder and
CEO, guests were led upstairs to a reception at The Polaroid
Museum. Friends and family mixed, mingled and toasted to the company’s
latest achievement, all the while surrounded by some of the most
beautiful, elaborate and interesting Polaroid photography and artifacts.
“This
evening marked an incredible launch to our future as we begin to expand
rapidly primarily through global franchise partners,” Struhl said. “Our
Las Vegas flagship and The Polaroid Museum perfectly marry Polaroid’s storied past with its exciting future.”
Last night’s guests were even able to see the 20x24 Polaroid
camera in action as three lucky raffle winners had their photos taken
with one of the last three of these cameras still in operation today.
Three minutes after the camera stopped flashing, their portraits of a
lifetime were ready to take home.
Some of The Polaroid
Museum’s most distinguished artists were also on-hand during the
day-long public celebration. Marc Serota, Tim Mantoani and Maripol
graciously signed books and chatted with Polaroid Fotobar customers, discussing the one subject that was on everyone’s mind, the timelessness of the Polaroid picture.
“Polaroid Fotobar and The Polaroid
Museum are evidence that a brand which revolutionized an entire
industry more than 75 years ago, has not only stood the test of time,
but has proven that well-executed, innovative concepts will always be en
vogue, no matter how a culture – or medium – changes,” said Todd Fine,
president of Fotobar.
Visitors who chose to take advantage of the
museum’s free admission yesterday were among the first to see the new
Andy Warhol wax figurine, on loan from Madame Tussauds London. The
figurine will be stationed on the store’s first level through Aug. 1,
but the artist made a special one-time appearance in the museum for the
grand opening celebration.
