								The Lower East Side Tenement Museum Artifact Reuse Project, a Polaroid commission, was based on work produced on Ellis Island during the late '80s. The Island's restoration, carried out by the U.S. Department of Interior, was a decade long construction effort, with numerous associated projects, one of which invited photographers to interpret the on going transformation of Ellis from a deserted historic site into a tourist destination.
