At his
studio he preserves his finest images. "At the end of
my shoots we cut up the 665 prints and paste them in books.
We've got 20 years of every major star and my assistants
in different locations," he says. The stars come and go
in popularity, but his trusted assistants stick around. Two
of his assistants have been with White fifteen years, seamlessly
teaming together to create superb images.
A bi-coastal
commuter, White hops from New York to Los Angeles regularly.
His hobby is car collecting, and he's now got 25 hot rods
in his huge warehouse of a toy box. He's also a regular flea
market enthusiast and has gathered up seven old Polaroid cameras
over time. He pays between 50-cents and $5.00 for each. His
prize treasure, costing $2.00, a Polaroid Model 180 Land camera,
still takes Polaroid 655 film. He brought it to a camera shop
in New York to be cleaned and the store owner immediately
offered him $500.00. He will not part with it for any price
and uses it every day.
