Mori,
on the other hand, occasionally took this expensive
camera on outings to snap his classmates' fun and games.
He was not particularly inspired by photography then
until he suddenly lost interest in industrial chemistry,
his major at Nihon University. He decided to get into
photography and enrolled in Tokyo College of Photography. |

The
wordless flowers, however, inspire his imagination and
stimulate a deeper desire for creativity within him.
No appointments, no conditions, no forced conversations
needed. The only thing he has to do is buy the
seasonal flowers he likes, then spend time contemplating
them before he approaches his camera to begin photographing
them. |

Although they are ephemeral, he says their weathering
petals and leaves are as beautiful to him as they
are in full bloom. In English, Masami Mori's given
name comprises two words: refinement and beauty. Each
word came from his father and his mother, who is a
poet of Tanka, the 32-syllable poetry from which Haiku
originally came. It seems clear that Masami Mori successfully
pursues in his art these attributes lovingly bestowed
upon him.
