"The
color characteristics and the resolution of the film
are superb. In fact the film is almost too sharp for
me. Some of the things I did, like use a softening filter
on the lens, almost got the technicians upset. But,
I wanted some of the sense of the traditional work of
Hollywood cinematographers. Yes, I admit, I put some
of that technique into using the camera. The softening
effect you can see in my photographs. It's a very funny
thing that Polaroid has worked vigorously for many,
many years to accomplish great definition and here I
am, coming into the studio and backing off from spectacular
definition. I just wanted a more ethereal effect,"
he explains. |
