BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 17, 2008)-Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates’ (CGRFS) Reed Sorenson headed to Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday, but limited practice time and a qualifying washout slowed progress toward getting the most out of the No. 41 Target Dodge Charger.
Sorenson started the 500 lap event 23rd as the field was set per the NASCAR rulebook, basing the lineup on 2007 owner standings. As is always the case at Bristol, track position comes at a premium on the 0.533-mile bullring, and the No.41 team had held serve through lap 121 of the 500 lap event, running as high as 19th.
The turning point of the race for the Target Team came when problems on the left rear required two additional trips down pit road, dropping Sorenson and crew back outside the top-30. They would ultimately hang in for the remainder of the event without incident en route to a 31st place finish.
Sorenson now stands 25th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver ranks with 461 points.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Martinsville Speedway next after an off weekend.
