First Polaroid Fotobar Store Set to Open at Delray Marketplace March 1
Posted: Feb 20, 2013
DELRAY BEACH, FL FEB. 20, 2013 – On March 1st, Delray Beach will be the first U.S. city to experience Polaroid Fotobar, a one of a kind, revolutionary photography concept. Opening at Delray Marketplace, the city’s newest multi-use development, Polaroid Fotobar invites customers to release photos from their cameras, mobile devices and social platforms and bring them to life. In just one visit, unique and permanent visuals are created, choosing from a variety of exotic materials such as canvas, metal, bamboo and more.
In a world where immediacy in photography is the norm, Polaroid Fotobar will reintroduce the world to the tangible photograph, thanks to Warren Struhl, CEO and Founder of Fotobar.
“When I ask people to show me their favorite picture, they take out their phone,” he said. “My next question is, does that favorite picture you just showed me live in a physical form? Nine times out of ten they say ‘No,’ with strong emotion. I realized this was a pain point in people’s lives,” Struhl said. The business visionary believes the solution lies not only in making photos come to life easier, but also making the experience pleasant, educational and fun — by turning the work into play.
Polaroid Fotobar will also provide a fun place for photography aficionados and amateurs of all ages to nurture their interest in photography, photo sharing and art. The 2,000 square foot store is equipped with “The Studio,” a multi-purpose room available to host photo classes, private parties and portrait sessions.
“Polaroid is known as the brand that revolutionized photography 60 years ago with the instant picture,” said Polaroid President and CEO Scott W. Hardy. “We are doing it again with these innovative, new retail stores. Polaroid is about sharing life’s most precious and memorable moments. We continue to be about self expression, creativity & fun, and Polaroid Fotobar represents a perfect modern expression of those values. Committed to being good stewards, Polaroid Fotobar has several initiatives planned to involve the local photography and art community. The store will showcase a “Community Wall” with more than 100 photographs submitted by local photography enthusiasts. Polaroid Fotobar will also partner with Art House Delray, a non-profit dedicated to increasing art awareness in Delray Beach. Art House Delray will receive a percentage of the store’s grand opening proceeds. Lastly, Polaroid Fotobar will team with several local stars from photo-sharing site Instagram to host an in-store exhibit of their best works.
