The King of Wake
will make eight stops throughout the United States, commencing in Orlando in April and ending in August in Grand Rapids, MI. Athletes from around the world will compete during the course of the season to be named the “King of Wake.”
Action team will be along for the ride, giving away free tickets to each event and having a booth at every stop on the tour. At each stop, spectators will have the chance for one-on-one meet-and-greets and autograph signings with the tournaments’ finest athletes. Each day hundreds of prizes will be given away including autographed t-shirts, Polaroid
instant cameras and several autographed Polaroid XS100
HD waterproof sports action cameras as grand prizes. They will also be showcasing their extensive mountable sports action video camera and instant digital camera lines.
While in action, many of the participating athletes will capture all those extreme shots the fans are craving using the Polaroid XS100. The Polaroid Action team is also compiling footage from these contests using the Polaroid XS100 for a commercial that will air during the King of Wake Games on the NBC Sports Network this summer.
Meet the Polaroid Action Team!
Polaroid is building a stable of world class athletes to promote and demonstrate how our line of affordable hi-definition sports video cameras make the already exciting world of action sports even more vivid, exhilarating and fun. The first athletes to join the newly-formed Polaroid Action team are wakeboarding phenoms Mike Dowdy, Noah Flegel and Keenan Flegel.
Mike Dowdy burst onto the pro wakeboarding scene in 2012 when he was named 2012 Wakegames Jr. Pro Men’s Champion and 2012 Jr. Pro Men’s Master's Champion. Starting the 2013 season off strong, Mike has placed in the top five at every Pro Wakeboard Tour stop to date and was the Transworld Wake Magazine’s April cover athlete. Wakeboarding piqued Mike’s interest at the early age of eight, when he was waterskiing with his family and saw wakeboarders on the lake. Deciding to give it a try, he signed up for lessons given by wakeboard pro Gerry Nunn and world champion Shaun Murray. He’s been hooked ever since. Now at 19, Mike Dowdy is also an avid skateboarder and traveler, having been around the globe to places such as Australia, Abu Dhabi and Panama.

Noah Flegel, Sports Illustrated Kids 2011 SportsKid of the Year
The younger Flegel brother, 15 year-old wakeboarder Noah (on the left in the photo above), began his 2013 season by winning every event thus far in the Junior Pro Men’s division at the 2013 Wakegames. In 2012, he stormed onto the pro wakeboarding scene by taking 1st place in the Junior Pro Men’s division at the World Wakeboard Association (WWA) Nationals and Worlds. One of Noah’s most rewarding and exciting achievements to date, however, is having been named the Sports Illustrated Kids: 2011 SportsKid of the Year. Noah was selected for this prestigious honor over thousands of other entrants in recognition of his athletic achievements and service to his community. Noah is also a passionate surfer and avid traveler, competing in surfing competitions around the world.
Keenan Flegel, World Wakesurf Champion
Professional wakesurfer, Keenan Flegel (on the right in the photo above), while only 17, is a veteran of the action sports world. He attended his first wakesurf event in 2007, winning the junior division title at the World Wakesurf Championships at the age of 11. A year later, Keenan advanced to the pro division at the World Wakesurf Championships and took home fifth place. Not satisfied to rest on his laurels, Keenan continued to train hard, returning to the World Wakesurf Championship to take first in the pro division in 2010. Like his younger brother, Keenan is also a passionate surfer. He has competed at the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) and the Eastern Surfing Association (ESA) Championships and has placed competitively in the juniors division for both events. An avid traveler and budding philanthropist, Keenan has traveled to Costa Rica and El Salvador, spending time at local orphanages, donating money and organizing fundraisers for their schools.
