What is an MP3 Player?
An MP3 player is a portable media player (PMP) or a digital audio player (DAP). It is a consumer electronics device that is capable of storing and playing digital media such as audio, images, video, documents, etc. In contrast, analog portable audio players play music from cassette tapes or records.
MP3 Players are devices (usually portable) that can play back MP3 audio files. Although they are called "MP3 Players", most can play other types of digital audio files (e.g., WMA, OGG, WAV, or AAC). Many MP3 players include other functions such as an FM Radio, Voice Recorder, Photo Viewer, or Video Playback.
You can download MP3 files from many different music download or subscription services, or you can create your own MP3 files from CD’s you own (this is called “ripping” music from CD’s).
