RoHS - Restriction of Hazardous Substances is a Directive of the European Union which severely restricts the amount of Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Chrome 6 and Halogenated Fire Retardants in Electrical Products. Elimination of these materials, especially Lead, represents a new era for electronics, as Lead is a major ingredient of the most basic electrical component, solder. Many other countries and US states are enacting laws similar to RoHS. Where applicable, we will address other RoHS type legislation at this RoHS web page.

WEEE - Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment is a Directive of the European Union which aims to minimize Environmental Damage from discarded end-of-life electrical products. The Directive holds the Brand Owner or Producer responsible for the discarded product physically and financially. It encourages optimum environmental product design. At end-of-life it promotes Reuse, then Recycling, then Recovery as preferable alternatives to dumping in land fills. Many other countries and US states have similar legislation to WEEE under different names. Where applicable, we will address under WEEE all End-Of-Life Product Issues.
